Butterlicious Lip Balm

I have been trying out lip balm recipes and tweaking for a long time, over several months in fact. They seem easy enough to make, jsut a dab of this and a dab of that, but to get them just perfect, the right creamy texture, not grainy, with a good glide, not sticky or tacky not to hard and not too soft ~ it all takes time, and I’ve made a lot of trial lip balms in the process and also asked a lot of friends to test the out!

So now, I can finally introduce the new Purelena lip balms. Our lip balms have a lovely creamy texture and good glide across the lip and it has a nice feel, not sticky or heavy, but light and smooth. They contain loads of the gorgeous cocoa butter to really moisturise and help condition your lips, some jojoba oil which also help moisturise and nourish your lips, Some bees wax and a touch of vitamin e. This product feels really great on your lips, helping them to stay in tip top condition~  making soft and kissable lips.

Introducing Orange Cream ~ with Organic Shea Butter

Here is a new reworking of a soap I first made last year. I have tweaked the essential oil blend, It has lots of the delicious sweet orange, mandarin, may-chang and a little amyris to round it off. It smells divine! It has also had a complete restyle and a new name too!

So here is ~ Orange Cream

It has lashings of organic shea butter, and lots of skin loving oils like olive, castor and avocado. It also has a tiny amount of tussah or wild harvested  silk. This is humanely collected when the cocoons are empty. Using silk adds a lovely softness to the lather, something you must try!

The gorgeous layers in this soap were made using uncoloured soap, soap coloured with paprika and soap coloured with yellow clay. What do you think?

It will be ready for sale around the 5th April

Valentines Day is coming, here are some inspired words of love

This is a different kind of post today,  as the season of ‘love’ is almost upon us, I have found some lovely words about love to share with you.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.
-Helen Keller

This is probably my favourite, quite lovely!

I find it quite strange, all this love for just 1 day,  if you really love someone, then shouldn’t we show our love and gratitude and respect on a daily basis. Not, simply because its the 14th of February and not because we feel we ought to!  Too often we take our partners for granted, overlooked in the hustle and bustle of our busy daily lives.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
- Lao Tzu

But also, our families, our children. I like to comment on the little things they do that are cute or kind or special in hope they realise just how special they are to me and of course I frequently tell them how much I love them. When they are sleeping, I whisper gently to them telling them how special they are.

(Here are my gorgeous munchkins)

Love is life. All, everything that I understand, I understand only because I love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love.
– Leo Tolstoy

Why not take a moment to consider what you have, who you love and whether you’ve told them lately …..

My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite.
- William Shakespeare, Romeo and Julie

and the last love quote for you….

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
– Pablo Neruda, “Love Sonnet XVII”

I hope you enjoyed reading these, please do feel free to comment on the leave any you you favourite ‘love quotes’ or words which are special to you.

Hope you like it, if you have any thoughts let me know …..

How to make Bath Milk

We all know that milk is really important in helping children to grow strong and healthy bone, but it is also beneficial in helping skin stay soft and nourished. It is also said that milk can help relieve red spots, reduce allergic reactions in the skin and help heal wounds. It has been used for thousands of years ~ Even Queen Cleopatra is reputed to have taken milk baths.

Oatmeal is also, very beneficial and again has been used for thousands of years.

“There are four reasons why your skin adores oatmeal,” explains New York City dermatologist Amy Wechsler, MD:

1. Dryness fighting: Oats contain polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water and leave a fine protective film on the skin, preventing dull, flaky dryness. 2. Moisturizing: Oats are full of healthy, lubricating fats. 3. Defence building: The proteins in oatmeal help maintain the skin’s natural barrier function, which ensures that the world outside the skin stays out, and what’s inside the skin stays in. 4. Pore cleansing: Oats are filled with natural cleansers (called saponins) that gently remove dirt and oil from the pores.

So, as you can see, milk and ground up oats are a really good combination that work really well when added to your bath.
The Oatmeal Bath Milk Recipe:

STEP 1

~ Put 100g oatmeal into the blender and blend or pulverize until it has attained a powdery texture.

Step 2

~ Add 150 to 200g milk powder to your mixture, and blend well. The mixture is well-blended when it has a milky appearance and feels smooth to the touch.

Step 3

~Store any excess in an airtight plastic container if your not going to use it straight away.

STEP 4

Just before you use you could mix in honey or incorporate three to six drops of an essential oil, such as lavender, peppermint, lemongrass, or rose. If your skin is very sensitive, avoid the essential oil altogether.
Fill your bathtub with water to your desired temperature, not too hot as this can irritate your skin. Add 2 to 3 tbsp. of your prepared oatmeal milk bath to the water.  Swirl the mixture with your hand or foot in order to ensure it is well-mixed into your bath. Carefully get in and relax and enjoy pampering your skin.

Next Time

If you really enjoyed that you could try adding a tablespoon of sea salt, or some rose petals.

If you try it, do let me know how you get on!

De-clutter 1000 Challenge ~ Update

Well I thought it was about time I updated where I am on this challenge!!

I didn’t manage to complete the 1000 before the year is out, but I am still going, rather slowly, I am a quarter of the way, only another 750 items to go!!

Did anyone succeed? I know there were a few others who were going to start. No? well there still plenty of time to join in. I am going to carry on with renewed enthusiasm and determination!

The challenge is quite simply to de-clutter 1000 items!! ~ Could you do it?

By selling, re-homing, giving, charity shops, ebay, free-cycle, recycling and as a last resort landfill

I started with clothes, but the items must not be replaced with new ~ that just defeats the object!! Then try drawers, cupboards, sheds, garages, children’s room ….. leave no stone unturned and take take any stones back to the beach !!
